!!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! and reserve yours today! Seems like the only way to get “steelies” is to op for the Badlands trim and select the “aluminum” wheels. Cyber Orange, matching interior trim, gray roof, tow package, not much else. $35k for this fairly loaded BS is decent. You can only get the 2.0 engine in the Badlands and First Edition trims

Still seems weird to me that you can only the bitchin’ low range Manual with the small engine.
That seems to be the case these days where a manual is even offered , but I actually thought they’d let you spec a manual with the V6.
I’m not at all a Ford guy, but I find myself moved by this more than any Jeep. Although unlikely to jilt my Land Cruisers and go buy one.... so my vote doesn’t count.

400 lb-ft too much for it? Seems like it shouldn’t be...
Maybe it will come as an option down the line? I know it’s expensive to do all the EPA and IIHS stuff for
each config.

They already make a 2.3L with a manual, but the 2.7L only comes in the F-150 with the auto, so they went cheap

I think that box is pretty tough, so yeah it’s probably just the compliance costs....
Have to believe somebody will do it in the aftermarket. Of course, by then, it will have a Voodoo in front of it, too.

Hot Take: An automatic is fine if it has a crawler gear and will hold a gear to redline. Also I am bad at hill starts.

I can’t get the build feature going, just keeps directing me to a dealership. But it looks like there is no memory seat, and since the camping vehicle is what I let my much shorter wife use regularly, I have become very accustomed to regular use of the memory seat function in the Outback. Good thing I’m only browsing.

That seems to be the case these days where a manual is even offered,
Counterpoint: Manual is now only available on the M3/M4 and soon-to-be CT4-V Blackwing. Already was the case where it was gone on the 28i cars and 35i was required for a manual.

Good points. I was thinking of the Hyundai/Kia offerings where they “break tradition and offer a manual” but only in the small engine options where it’s less likely to be bought...

Well there’s also the Genesis G70 which only offers a manual with the 2.0T, same for the now gone ATS.
I think the bottomline is car makers are trying to avoid manuals where they can in general.

They aren’t touting crawl ratio, which is the only thing a little worri some about the BS as a decent cute wheeler. The 8 speed in the escape as a very nice low 1st og 5.32 or something, but the final is 3.62 os something so it only has about the same as a subaru Forester but everything else about it is spot on. If they changed the final to be 4.1 or something then we’d really have something. 275 lbs-ft would be plenty with a 21-22:1 ratio. That’ s as much torque as I have at the same RPM and its more than my low range 2nd gear which is fine for all but the real wheeling.
*remember that 245/275 is what they are targeting with premium, regular fuel hp and torque will be lower most likely.

I built one and then the site decided not to load. I want the red color with the navy leather interior and I want the Outer Banks trim.

Hey,
I’d love to read your initial thoughts on the Bronco. For a $10K -$15K premium over a competitive wrangler.... I just dunno man....
I wish I could get a Toyota, but the pricing and size mean that I can’t. No 4Runner or Tacoma would fit in my garage or on my driveway.

Yeah, these. Great examples.
I always thought an ATS with the 3.6 manual, 7200 RPM redline and the right gears would have been a riot. Even the bell-housing from the LLR should have been a close match to the LFX derivative in that ATS.... So an MA5 5-speed coulda-woulda-shoulda...

I wouldn’t mind the Kodiak Brown. I have a feeling Area 51 will be a VERY popular color. Alto Blue seems nice.

Reminds me of Jeep’s Anvil color they use. I don’t feel like posting a photo and crediting so google it if you’re curious. Looks a lot like area 51

But why pay 35k when that could get you a real bronco with a longitudinally mounted engine

sidebar - the crawl ratio for the badlands is 17.8:1. Not great.

This is f itting.
I wonder, w hat would be the best Jeep analogy here to show how lazy and blasphemous the “Sport” name is ? Renaming the Renegade “ Wrangler Sport”?
